August 2002 - Newton Hall, by Alnwick, Northumberland ... (click here to view the Newton Hall website)

Newton Hall - B&B, self-catering cottages and caravan site - well situated for exploring Northumberland, close to wonderful beaches, a good pub within 10 mins walk, and the company of Heston members - what more could you want ?

Several of us took the chance to visit Holy Island
(don't forget to check the tide tables !)

It was an early start for a very enjoyable (and scorching hot) day trip back in time to the 1920s
at the North East of England Open Air Museum, BEAMISH.

May 2000 - Hillockhead Steading, Rosemarkie on The Black Isle ... (click here to view the Hillockhead website)

Hillockhead offered fabulous views over the Moray Firth,
and lovely walking country on the doorstep.

A visit to Glenmorangie Distillery was enjoyed by all (and so was the free dram!)

A 'Ghost Walk' with William Hare (decd) in the shadow of Inverness Castle

And on the last night, a traditional 16-some reel on the 'croquet lawn'.
